China-made military hardware for ground forces shared the limelight with aircraft, with many foreign military delegations showing great interest in them at the China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition 2016 in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong Province.
A Global Times reporter saw on Wednesday that Chinese State-run enterprises, including China North Industries Group Corporation (Norinco) which mainly focuses on developing equipment for ground forces, displayed some of its latest equipment.
The Norinco-made VT5 light tank, which is China's latest tank for export, has attracted the attention of visitors to the expo and foreign military delegations, military expert Fu Qianshao told the Global Times on Wednesday.
Fu added that many technologies of the VT5 are from Type 99 and Type 96, the most advanced tanks serving in the People's Liberation Army.
The United Arab Emirates' military delegation watched the publicity video in Norinco's area on Wednesday, an anonymous company employee told the Global Times.
And the employee confirmed that many foreign military delegations came to the company's area at the expo but "couldn't remember all of them."
Norinco offers a wide range of military equipment, including tanks, artillery, radar and command vehicles, to provide a comprehensive combat capability to its clients, according to the publicity video.
"The China-made equipment for ground forces has been sold to countries in the Middle East, Africa, Central Asia and Latin America," Song Zhongping, a military expert, told the Global Times.
"China has taken a large part of the low-end market of ground forces equipment, and we are now aiming at the middle-end and cutting-edge markets," Song said.
