To celebrate its 67th founding anniversary, the PLA Navy will open its warships to the public in several cities including Qingdao, Dalian, Shanghai, Zhoushan, Xiamen and Zhanjiang cities on April 23, 2016.
April 23 is the birthday of the Chinese PLA Navy. Sixty-seven years ago, the navy attached to the East China Military Area Command of the Chinese PLA was established at Baimamiao, a small village in Taizhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province on April 23 in 1949. This day was designated as the birthday of the PLA Navy by China's Central Military Commission (CMC) on February 17, 1989, while Baimamiao was designated as the birthplace of the PLA Navy.
It is learnt that guided-missile destroyer Harbin (Hull Number 112), a second-generation destroyer manufactured by China, will be open for public visit on April 23at a naval port in Qingdao, East China's Shandong Province.
The guided-missile frigate Huludao (Hull Number 565) will be open for public visit on April 23 at a naval port in Dalian, northeast China's Liaoning Province.
The large tank landing ship Taihangshan (Hull Number 982), which is independently developed by China and tasked with various military missions including transporting troops for landing operations, war-preparedness transport, maritime rescue and defense education, will be open for visit on April 23at a naval port in Shanghai City.
The guided-missile frigates Yangzhou (Hull Number 578) and Quanzhou (Hull Number 588) will be open for public visit on April 23 at the naval ports in Zhoushan, east China's Zhejiang Province, and Xiamen, southeast China's Fujian Province respectively.
Independently developed and manufactured by China, Yangzhou and Quanzhou are new-type guided-missile frigates responsible for patrol and guard, fishing and sailing escort, anti-submarine operations, and operations at sea and others.
The new-type amphibious dock landing ship Changbaishan (Hull Number 989) will be open for visit on April 23 at a naval port in Zhanjiang, south China's Guangdong Province.
Local residents can visit the above-mentioned warships for free on April 23. During the visit, visitors should not carry any inflammable and explosive articles, beverage of soft or hard package, or any kind of handbag, backpack or satchel.
When boarding a warship, visitors should stand in line, cooperate in security check, follow the staff's instructions and get on and off the warship in order. Parents should take good care of their children and keep them safe.
