Members of the Chinese People's Liberation Army will soon receive a pay raise, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense confirmed on Oct. 27.
At a regular press conference, spokesperson Wu Qian confirmed news circulating online that members of the People's Liberation Army will get a pay raise, adding that this will be the first pay raise since the implementation of the national policy that guarantees regular pay raises for workers.
Wu added that the pay level for soldiers is set on the basis of national policies and the country's economic and social development; it also takes the characteristics of the military profession into account. Keeping the pay at an appropriate level helps to keep soldiers free from worry, and to encourage them to better fulfill their duties.
