The Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) fired an unidentified missile into its east waters late Friday, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said.
Yonhap news agency cited JCS as saying that the missile was launched into the East Sea from DPRK's Jagang province at around 11:41 p.m. local time, adding that it appeared to be a ballistic missile.
The South Korean media reported that the missile launch was immediately reported to South Korean President Moon Jae-in, who convened an emergency security meeting early Saturday.
