The Chinese embassy in Kathmandu has hosted a reception here to celebrate the 90th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) which falls on Aug. 1.
Chinese Ambassador Yu Hong said at the reception, which was held on Monday, that the past 90 years have witnessed the development of the PLA which is dedicated to promoting global peace, security and stability.
Noting that China and Nepal have established comprehensive partnership of cooperation, the ambassador said the relationship between the two armies has also gained momentum of development.
At the reception, Chief of the Army Staff of the Nepali Army Gen. Rajendra Chhetri said: "I admire great sacrifice and immense contribution made by the PLA for the people of China during difficult times in history."
The two countries have been enjoying centuries-old cultural and historical relations, the Nepali army chief said, lauding assistance and support extended by the PLA to the country.
Chhetri also reiterated Nepal's long-standing adherence to the one-China policy.
"We don't tolerate our land been used against any friendly countries," he added.
He praised China's support to Nepal during the devastating earthquake that struck Nepal in 2015.
Nepali Defense Minister Bhimsen Das Pradhan, top government officials, senior military officers, media persons, diplomats, political party leaders, among others, attended the reception.
