The 2018 Dongfeng Nissan Chengdu International Marathon will kick off on October 27, and registration starts on Wednesday.
According to the organizers, over 28,000 participants are expected to compete in three races: a full marathon, a half-marathon and a "happy run." Registration runs from September 19-23.
The event, launched in 2017, is designed as an international platform to boost Chengdu as a new destination for global sport events. In 2018, it is jointly hosted by the Chinese Athletic Association and Chengdu Municipal Government.
Prior to the marathon, the 2018 Chengdu International Marathon Expo will be staged, allowing local residents and visitors to enrich their knowledge about marathon.
The organizing committee has optimized and upgraded the running route, which connects many landmarks in Chengdu, reflecting Chengdu's history and its rapid urban development.
Special awards will be introduced into the edition of this year to recognize Chinese runners. The organizing committee will also increase the bonus to attract more elite runners.
Stricter rules will be adopted to ensure fair play. Cheating, including things like using fake information to register or transferring number sheet are forbidden. Those who violate the rules will be banned for life from the event.
