More than 400 athletes from the Chinese military will participate in the 7th International Military Sports Council (CISM) Military World Games, the Ministry of National Defense said Wednesday.
The Military World Games is a multi-sport event for the armed forces organized by CISM since 1995. This year, the games will be held Oct. 18-27, 2019 in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province.
The games, held every four years, will see the biggest number of competition events ever, with more than 320 events over 27 categories to be held, the ministry said, noting that badminton, tennis, table tennis and men's gymnastics would be included in the competition for the first time.
It is expected to attract some 10,000 athletes from more than 100 countries.
Chinese athletes will take part in all the competitions except golf, the ministry said, adding that China had set up 29 sports teams to prepare for the games. The Chinese delegation will be officially formed by the end of this year.
All the 35 venues for the games will be ready by the end of April next year, said Chen Ruifeng, an official with the city of Wuhan and secretary-general of the executive committee of the games.
"The city will speed up its process of modernization and internationalization, and make sure citizens enjoy sustained benefit from the high-quality infrastructure," Chen said.
Ticket sales for the games will start from March 2019, and can be bought via the event's official website and mobile app, as well as ticket agencies and ticket booths at venues. Enditem
