Wang Xiaoguang, a former vice governor of southwest China's Guizhou Province, has been indicted on charges of taking bribes, embezzlement and insider trading.
The Supreme People's Procuratorate (SPP) announced Friday that upon designation of the SPP, a procuratorate in Chongqing has filed the case in the Chongqing Municipal No. 1 Intermediate People's Court.
Wang was accused of taking advantage of his posts to seek benefits for others or using his power and status to seek illegitimate interests for others through other officials' work, and accepting "especially huge amounts of money and gifts," the SPP said.
Prosecutors also accused Wang of using his posts to illegally gain vast sums from public property.
According to the indictment, Wang, having obtained inside information on securities via both legal and illegal means, conducted trading of relevant stocks during a sensitive period, under especially serious circumstances.
The SPP statement said prosecutors had informed the defendant of his litigation rights, interrogated him and listened to the defense counsel's opinions. The rights of the defendant have been properly protected. Enditem
