At the beginning of 2019, Kim Jong Un, top leader of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), has released a series of positive signals in his New Year speech by reaffirming his resolution to achieve denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

Kim said Tuesday that he would push forward the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula and was ready to meet with U.S. President Donald Trump at any time.

"I am always ready to sit down again with the U.S. president at any time and will make efforts to produce an outcome that the international community would welcome," Kim said.

In his speech broadcast on the state-run television, he stressed his determination to work to build new relations with the United States, establish lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula and seek "complete denuclearization," on the condition that the United States takes corresponding measures.

"We could be left with no choice but to seek a new way if the U.S. does not make good on its promises, misjudges our patience, while seeking to force things unilaterally and clinging to sanctions and pressure," Kim warned.

Analysts said that Kim's words carried a goodwill message to Washington.

They said since the DPRK announced last year that it would no longer make or test nuclear weapons and destroyed some nuclear facilities, the United States did not respond positively to these denuclearization measures.

The primary reason for the stalemate in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula is lack of mutual trust between the DPRK and the United States, analysts pointed out.

The United States remains skeptical about the DPRK's willingness to abandon its nuclear weapons and refused to relax its sanctions on the DPRK, which delayed the DPRK's next moves, they said.

To break the stalemate, the two sides need to meet each other halfway in the new year and take decisive measures to bring the denuclearization cause back on the right track, they added.

Also in his speech, Kim said that he was willing to reopen the inter-Korean industrial park in the border city of Kaesong and resume a suspended tour program to Mount Kumgang on the east coast "without any preconditions."

Both the Industrial park and Mount Kumgang tourist zone have been d for a few years.

Analysts said they look forward to many positive things to take place regarding the Korean Peninsula situation, including the planned second summit between leaders of the DPRK and the United States, the DPRK leaders' visit to Seoul as well as the implementation of various inter-Korean cooperation plans, analysts said.
