Ma Yuehua, a 92-year-old survivor of the Nanjing Massacre, died on Friday morning in Nanjing, East China's Jiangsu province, according to the Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders.
In 1937 Ma lived at her sister's house at 32 Moling Street and helped take care of babies when the Japanese invaded the then capital of China. She has said in earlier interviews that two Japanese soldiers broke into the house and one of them raped her sister.
Ma was able to get up and sit by her bed when workers from the memorial hall visited her on Sunday, but she passed away early Friday morning.
