Chinese tech giant Xiaomi has rolled out its latest flagship smartphone capable of 20W wireless charging, the first of its kind worldwide.
The new smartphone, the Mi 9, has a new wireless charging coil that enhances its wireless charging efficiency and stability, enabling it to hit 20W wireless charging at its peak.
Powered by the newest generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 855, the Mi 9 also features a triple camera combination of a 48-megapixel main camera, 16-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera.
The Mi 9 is priced at 2,999 yuan (443.9 U.S. dollars) and above. The phone will be available on Feb. 26 across mi.com and Xiaomi's major sales channels in China.
Together with the Mi 9, Xiaomi launched the more compact Mi 9 SE, three wireless charging devices, and a new smart speaker with a 4-inch touch screen as the company steps up its investment in the Internet of Things.
This is the first new product launch after Xiaomi announced last month to employ a two-brand development strategy by making Redmi an independent brand, which will focus on the e-commerce market and seek high price-performance ratios.
The new brand's first product, the Redmi Note 7, saw robust sales after its launch, with over one million units sold in just one month, according to Xiaomi founder and CEO Lei Jun.
