The Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China plans to establish standards for the smart green community to create a safer, cozier and more convenient living environment, said an official of the ministry during a forum on Tuesday.
"Our goal is to make the smart green neighborhood digital, internet-backed, intelligent, interactive and synergetic," said Ma Hong, director of the IC Card Application Service Center of the ministry, at a forum held by the real estate channel of Chinese internet giant Tencent Holdings Ltd.
"Real estate developers should not only focus on buildings," Ma added. "More importantly, they need to offer efficient services to the residents living in the community, which requires the help of internet-based technologies."
In response to the digital trend in the property industry, Tencent launched a number of applications designed to provide solutions for building management, digital construction and property management based on its cloud computing services.
Moreover, Tencent established its Cloud and Smart Industries Group by integrating Tencent Cloud, Internet plus, intelligent retail and healthcare to upgrade the industries closely related to the public's lives.
There is huge potential for the digital and smart market within the real estate industry, be it newly built housing or pre-owned market, said Yi Haiyan, general manager of Tencent Regional Business Group.
"There are high demands for a technology-driven living environment. It is a mission for property developers to provide residents with smart, convenient and safe services," Yi added.
