Deputies to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC) raised 8,160 suggestions at the legislative body's annual session held in March, according to a statement issued after a meeting Thursday.
The number indicated a 14.3 percent increase from the previous year, suggesting that deputies to the 13th NPC are more active in improving their ability to perform duties, the statement said.
The suggestions mostly concern risk control and prevention, poverty relief, environmental protection, coordinated regional development and integrated urban-rural development, implementation of the rural vitalization strategy, as well as the improvement of people's livelihoods.
Thursday's meeting was held to transfer the suggestions to 193 units for research and handling.
Yang Zhenwu, secretary general of the NPC Standing Committee, said at the meeting that all the 7,139 suggestions put forward by the deputies during the first session of the 13th NPC in 2018 have been handled and the deputies have been informed of the results, adding that this is helpful for pushing forward the implementation of decisions and plans of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and resolving a series of problems concerned by the people.
