Police urged other fugitives now hiding in foreign countries and regions to return home and surrender themselves to authorities for lenient punishment, the statement read.
Zheng escaped to Greece in August 2017 after defrauding a large amount of money from local residents by pretending to pay his victims high-interest returns between December 2013 and June 2016.
After police were alerted to the situation, they established a special task force to focus on investigating the case and seek the whereabouts of Zheng.
China quickly issued a red international arrest warrant to help pursue and capture Zheng via Interpol after they learned Zheng had escaped abroad.
Zheng was detained by Greek police according to that warrant in August 2018, and the European country agreed to extradite Zheng back to Guangzhou in April when the Ministry of Public Security applied.
The ministry sent a police team to Greece for the extradition on May 13.
