The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued warning of severe heat wave conditions in isolated pockets in north India, particularly in states of Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi and union territory Chandigarh.
Besides, heat wave conditions were expected in some parts over the central state of Madhya Pradesh and in isolated pockets over states like Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra and Jharkhand, said an alert issued by the IMD on Sunday.
On Saturday, the maximum temperature of 50.8 degrees Celcius was recorded in Churu district of Rajasthan state, said sources in the IMD.
Rajasthan's cities of Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaisalmer and Kota recorded their maximum temperatures at 49, 47.9, 47.2 and 46 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Maximum temperature in Delhi hovered over 46 degrees Celsius.
