Huawei said on Friday that the company will use its HongMeng operating system in smart TV products to be unveiled in August.
The move is part of Huawei's broader push to increase the applications of its in-house research and development capabilities amid the US government's restrictions on the company.
Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei's consumer business group, said the smart-screen products, considered the future of smart TVs, will use Huawei's self-developed HongMeng operating system to connect home appliances.
These smart-screen products are Huawei's first step into the TV sector.
