The English-language edition of "China in Focus", a ten-volume series written by Chinese scholars on a variety of topics concerning China, was launched at the annual Frankfurt Book Fair on Wednesday.
The series, published by the Foreign Languages Press (FLP) owned by the China International Publishing Group, covers a wide range of topics, including the history of the Communist Party of China, the history of the country's reform and opening up policy, as well as China's anti-corruption campaign, poverty reduction efforts, and the Belt and Road Initiative. Its Chinese version was launched at the Beijing International Book Fair in August.
Xu Bu, head of the FLP, said that the books relate China's views and contributions to the world through vivid storytelling and data. "We believe that this series will become a window that opens on China for a foreign audience," Xu said.
At the launch ceremony, German and Romanian publishers signed cooperation agreements with the FLP. A letter of intent on future publishing of the Arabic version was also signed between the Chinese side and a Lebanese publisher.
Ioana Mogosanu, copyright manager of Romania's Corint Publishing Group, recalled the previous successful publishing cooperation between China and Romania.
Mogosanu said the series will become part of a collection entitled "Discover China" to be launched in November to promote Chinese values, traditions and achievements in Romania.
The Frankfurt Book Fair, which runs from Wednesday to Sunday, is the largest of its kind in the world. This year it attracted 7,450 exhibitors from 104 countries and regions.
