(ECNS) - The railway network in the Yangtze River Delta region, one of China’s most developed economic hubs, will expand the use of electronic tickets to 48 more stations on Wednesday.
The Shanghai-Nanjing railway became the first to pilot the electronic ticket program on July 27 this year, allowing passengers to board without showing printed tickets. By Nov. 12, 45 stations under the administration of China Railway Shanghai Group offered e-tickets.
Newly added stations that allow paperless tickets now include those in Ningbo, Fenghua, Ninghai and Lianyungang.
The digital drive is designed to improve self check-in services at train stations, eliminating the trouble of queuing to get printed tickets. Passengers can also easily cancel tickets or reschedule online.
