China strongly opposes the 2020 U.S. defense bill against Chinese firms and urges Washington to stop wrongdoing and create favorable conditions for Chinese companies, China's Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday.
Gao Feng, ministry spokesperson, warned that the relative rules in the bill will undermine the international economic and trade order and endanger the security of the global industrial chain.
"We urge the U.S. to respect the principle of marketization, discard political bias and the outdated concept of zero-sum game, stop wrong practices and create favorable conditions for the normal economic and trade cooperation between the enterprises of the two countries", Gao added.
China will pay close attention to the impact of the implementation of the bill on Chinese enterprises and take all necessary measures to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese enterprises.
Regarding the follow-up to the phase one trade deal, Gao said that China and the U.S. are conducting a legal review, translation and proofreading procedures, and communicating closely.
