At least four children were killed and 10 others wounded after roof of a girls' seminary collapsed in Kandahar city, capital of Afghanistan's southern Kandahar province on Monday, local police said.
"The incident occurred in Hakim Sahib locality, in Police District 12 of the city roughly at midday. The incident was triggered by recent rains as there had been raining in the Kandahar over the last several days," a district police told Xinhua.
The number of casualties may change and the next of kin of the victims will be notified soon, he noted.
In war-torn and impoverished Afghanistan, people in rural areas mostly construct mud houses, which are vulnerable in natural disasters including heavy rains and snowfall.
Earlier this month, six children were killed and 14 people injured as the roof of a house collapsed in Spin Boldak district of Kandahar.
