The Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) and the Chinese Red Cross Foundation had received more than 849.72 million yuan (about 123.37 million U.S. dollars) in social donations for novel coronavirus prevention and control as of 5 p.m. Friday, the RCSC said Saturday.
The donations, consisting of 656.96 million yuan in cash and 192.77 million yuan worth of materials, will be used in accordance with the needs of epidemic control and the will of the donors, the RCSC said.
The cash donations, including about 80.29 million yuan received by the RCSC and 576.67 million yuan received by the Chinese Red Cross Foundation, were allocated for coronavirus prevention and control in the provinces of Hubei, Shandong and Zhejiang, humanitarian assistance for frontline medical staff in Wuhan and the purchase of prevention and control materials and hospital construction.
The RCSC had received 39.33 million yuan worth of products, with the majority sent to the cities of Wuhan, Shiyan and Xiaogan in Hubei Province and 22 other provinces and municipalities.
A total of 153.44 million yuan worth of materials received by the Chinese Red Cross Foundation had been sent or arranged for shipment to Hubei, Zhejiang, Hebei and Beijing.
