Construction on the Aratax water conservation project has resumed in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.
About 678 construction and management personnel of the project have resumed work, and a total of 1,100 people are expected to return to work by March 15.
With total water storage of nearly 2.25 billion cubic meters, the reservoir is the largest water conservation project under construction in Xinjiang.
One of the 172 major national water conservation and water supply projects, it will mainly be used for flood control, irrigation and power generation.
Construction of the project started in 2015, and it will help solve more than 4 million people's trouble caused by flooding of the Yarkant River when completed in 2021.
