The central Chinese city of Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province hard hit by the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19), reported Tuesday a new COVID-19 case, local health authorities said Wednesday.
The imported case from Britain was Wuhan's first imported case after the city had seen no new cases for seven consecutive days as of Monday. The province registered no domestically transmitted COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, according to the provincial health commission.
The province confirmed 47 asymptomatic COVID-19 patients on Tuesday, bringing the total to 982, who had been put under medical observation by the end of Tuesday.
Hubei saw six virus-related deaths, five of which were reported in Wuhan on Tuesday.
The province discharged 173 patients from hospital after recovery Tuesday. Among the 1,283 patients being treated in hospital, 311 were still in severe condition and another 124 in critical condition.
Hubei has so far reported a total of 67,802 confirmed COVID-19 cases, including 50,007 in Wuhan.
