Planting shifted into high gear recently in a demonstration zone for super hybrid rice — 6.73 hectares in the Honghe Hani and Yi autonomous prefecture of Yunnan province.
The zone, located in Mengzi's Qianjin village, is an agricultural project of Yuan Longping, a pioneer of hybrid rice in China. It will take three days to plant the seedlings.
Last year, the output of the zone reached 1,138 kilograms per muand now it is expected to reach 1,200 kilograms per mu.
