U.S. state of Illinois Governor Jay Robert Pritzker will work from home for an appropriate isolation period after a member of his senior staff tested positive for COVID-19.
The asymptomatic staff member tested positive late last week and was in close contact with Pritzker and other staff members. Pritzker tested negative and was tested again early on Sunday and tested negative, according to a news release released on Monday.
Pritzker and his staff members have followed all safety protocols of Illinois Department of Public Health, including daily temperature checks, wearing face coverings, social distancing and strict hygiene procedures. The governor's office will undergo deep cleaning, and the staff members are monitoring themselves for symptoms.
The governor will continue to hold daily press briefings via video conference, local media reported.
