The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Maldives has crossed the 11,000 mark, local media reported here Thursday.
According to the Health Protection Agency (HPA), 69 new cases of COVID-19 were detected on Wednesday, raising the country's total case count to 11,062.
The Maldives has 1,147 active COVID-19 cases spread across 19 islands and 19 resorts. So far, 9,880 patients have recovered from the virus while 35 have died.
Around 64 percent of all infected patients have been Maldivian citizens, with the remaining being foreign citizens, largely Bangladeshi.
