A gathering in which officials of the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region conducted exchanges with ambassadors and diplomats from Latin American and Caribbean countries wrapped up on Friday.
The event was co-sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
Last week, 23 ambassadors and diplomats from 19 Latin American and Caribbean countries paid a visit to companies, museums, local communities, mosques and other places in the region to learn more about Xinjiang's development and get closer to its people.
"It's very meaningful for us to come and see with our own eyes," said Juan Fernando Lugris Rodriguez, Uruguay's ambassador to China, noting that the trip helped him to better understand the diversity of the people in Xinjiang and the Belt and Road Initiative.
The ambassadors expressed their willingness to strengthen collaboration between Xinjiang and corporations in their own countries in multiple fields, such the generation of wind power and electrical transmission.
