China's completion rate of the free nine-year compulsory education was 95.2 percent in 2020, making it reaching the average of high-income countries, according to a white paper released Thursday.
The white paper on the practice of the Communist Party of China in respecting and protecting human rights was released by the State Council Information Office.
China's gross enrollment rate in senior secondary education was 91.2 percent, higher than the average of upper-middle-income countries, figures from the white paper showed.
"Vocational education has developed rapidly, and higher education is transitioning from mass access to universal access," it said.
