The Communist Party of China has led the country to tremendous successes, demonstrating to the world the great advantages of the socialist path of development, the leader of Russia's communist party Gennady Zyuganov said.
Zyuganov, chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation, or CPRF, congratulated the CPC on its upcoming 100th founding anniversary on July 1 in an interview with Chinese media.
Zyuganov said the CPC understands the deepest aspirations of the people, protects their interests and has paved the way for the nation's great rejuvenation.
"Owing to the selfless efforts of the CPC members and the working people, China has become a dynamically developing country," the Russian politician said.
He said modern China has set an example on how to combine economic and social progress as it masters scientific knowledge and new technologies.
"The entire population benefits from the outcome of this development rather than a small group of people," he said.
Zyuganov said that China has quickly brought the COVID-19 pandemic under control, and maintained the vitality of economic development while completing the important task of eradicating absolute poverty.
He said that countries participating in the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative have also boosted their economic development and fostered deeper ties with China.
Zyuganov also noted that relations between the CPRF and the CPC have reached a high level.
Ultimate goal
"Our parties are focusing on building a just socialist society and see Communism as the ultimate goal," which lays a solid foundation for cooperation between the two parties and for the fulfillment of tasks facing China and Russia, he said.
In earlier remarks in Russian newspaper Pravda, Zyuganov said the most important reason for the CPC's success is that the Party is good at learning from history as well as from the Chinese people.
He said the CPC made its own choice in embarking on the path of China's renaissance as it knows best the country and the creativity of the Chinese people.
"They have proved to be absolutely correct," said Zyuganov. With more than 91 million members, the CPC has had a great influence on the world's development, he said.
Zyuganov said the CPC has been committed to meeting the growing material and cultural needs of the people, and working for the well-being of the people. Thanks to its policies, China has avoided the various problems that many countries face, including a widening gap between the rich and the poor.
"It is important for a country because we can see not long ago it was the problem (of a widening gap between the rich and the poor), rather than the coronavirus pandemic, that led to large-scale protests in the United States and some Western countries," he said.
Zyuganov emphasized that the Communist Party of Russia attaches great importance to the consolidation of friendship and cooperation with the CPC. He said the party-to-party coordination could be dated to the beginning of the 20th century when members of the two parties worked together for the socialist cause.
Zyuganov, who is also a member of the Council of the State Duma, the lower chamber of Russia's parliament, said the caucus of the Communist Party of Russia-in both the Federal Council and the State Duma-has been calling for closer political and economic cooperation between Russia and China, as well as for enhanced friendship between the two peoples.
