The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government on Friday supported the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for highlighting the United States' interference in Hong Kong affairs, presenting a clear picture of how the city has been used to undermine national security.
Its statement followed a 6,000-word fact sheet on the ministry's website enumerating U.S. intervention in Hong Kong SAR affairs from February 2019 until July this year. These acts had led to nearly a year of violence and social unrest in the city until a national security law was introduced for Hong Kong in June 2020.
The overwhelming evidence stated has brought home to the people of Hong Kong that the city had been subject to foreign interference for years, the statement reads.
"Don't let the United States get their way," the statement told local residents.
The list details at least 102 events through which the United States attempted to interfere in Hong Kong's affairs and destabilize the city. They include enacting Hong Kong–related acts to vilify China's decisions toward the city, and sanctioning Chinese officials to obstruct China's policies.

The U.S. also made unfounded charges against Hong Kong law enforcement actions and shielded those who broke the law of Hong Kong and encouraged them to spread anti-government speech and ideas and advocate separatism.
These acts had seriously endangered the sovereignty, security, and development interests of the country. They made Hong Kong a loophole in national security, with its own prosperity and stability at stake, the spokesperson of the SAR government said.
The Hong Kong government thanked the central authorities for the decisive enactment and implementation of the National Security Law for Hong Kong. The law has enabled the local authorities to prevent, stop and punish acts that endanger national security.
The improved electoral system will also prevent anti-China activists from entering the governance structure, and systematically realize the principle of "patriots administering Hong Kong".
