'Father of hybrid rice' Yuan Longping laid to rest in central China

The remains of Chinese scientist Yuan Longping, known as the "father of hybrid rice," was laid to rest Monday in Changsha, capital of central China's Hunan Province. 

The academician with the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who cultivated the first high-yield hybrid rice strain, died of organ failure at 91 in Changsha on May 22.
