A total of 2,253 judicial officers were investigated last year for allegedly abusing their powers to infringe upon civil rights or impair justice, an increase of 58.6 percent year-on-year, according to the annual work report of the Supreme People's Procuratorate.
There must be zero tolerance for corruption in law enforcement and judicial sectors, procurator-general Zhang Jun said while making the report to the ongoing fifth session of the 13th National People's Congress on Tuesday.
Last year, the SPP also enhanced internal discipline inspections within the procuratorial system, with 2,800 officers from all procuratorate levels being punished under Party disciplinary regulations and national laws, double the number in 2020, the report said.
Among them, 202 were held for criminally liable, it said.
