The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday urged the United States to return Afghan assets frozen in U.S. banks as 25 million Afghan people are still trapped in poverty.
According to a CGTN poll, nearly four in five people in Afghanistan believe the U.S. war against their country did not achieve its goal and was a "complete failure."
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian said at a daily news conference that such a poll represents the views of the Afghan people.
The U.S.-led war has caused an increase in terrorist organizations in Afghanistan and brought numerous barriers for the country's reconstruction even after the U.S. troops' withdrawal one year ago, Zhao said.
