Since joining the World Trade Organization 22 years ago as the largest developing member, China has firmly supported the multilateral trading system, practiced true multilateralism and fulfilled its commitments to the WTO, the Ministry of Commerce said Wednesday in response to the 2022 Report to Congress on China's WTO Compliance released by the office of the United States Trade Representative on Feb 24.
Since it joined, China improved its socialist market economy and legal system, continuously expanded high-level institutional openness, increased policy transparency, comprehensively participated in WTO reform negotiations and activities and helped more developing members, especially the least developed countries, integrate into the multilateral trading system, the ministry added, leading to widespread recognition from WTO members.
