Honduras has made the right choice by establishing diplomatic relations with China in line with the general trend, a Chinese mainland spokesman said on Monday morning.
China and Honduras established diplomatic relations on Sunday after the Central American country severed the so-called "diplomatic ties" with Taiwan and became the 182nd country in the world to establish diplomatic ties with China.
"There is only one China in the world, and Taiwan is part of China," Ma Xiaoguang, spokesman for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, said in a statement.
The one-China principle is the universal consensus of the international community and basic norms governing international relations, he said.
