Cambodia and China have successfully concluded the fifth edition of joint military exercise "Golden Dragon 2023" at the Royal Gendarmerie Training Center.
Cambodian Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Tea Banh and Vice Admiral Wei Wenhui, deputy commander of the Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, as well as Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia Wang Wentian attended the closing ceremony on Wednesday.
Speaking at the event, Banh said the joint exercise had come to a successful end, with fruitful results for the relations between the countries and armies.
"This joint exercise has strengthened the capacities of the two militaries, further enhanced the spirit of solidarity, traditional friendship and cooperation between the two countries and peoples, and contributed to protecting peace and stability in the region and in the world," he said.
He added that the exercise clearly reflected the two countries' commitment to building a high-quality, high-level and high-standard China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era.
"This joint exercise has showed the world that the Cambodia-China ironclad friendship is unbreakable and will be even stronger," Banh said.
"No matter how the international situation has changed, our two countries will further deepen our ironclad friendship and promote practical cooperation for win-win results and mutual benefit towards building a community with a shared future for mankind," he added.
Wei said the joint exercise had not only enhanced the anti-terrorism and humanitarian assistance capabilities of both militaries, but also increased political mutual trust and promoted cultural exchanges between the two militaries.
"This joint exercise is a window to promote the 'peaceful development' concept of China and Cambodia," he said. "Also, it shows our strong willingness and commitment to promote and protect peace, security and stability in the region."
The Cambodia-China "Golden Dragon 2023" joint military exercise started on March 23 at the Royal Gendarmerie Training Center in central Cambodia.
