A two-month campaign aimed at purifying the online environment to protect juveniles began on Tuesday, according to China's top internet regulator.

Major targets of the campaign are people who entice children to hold nude chats online or take naked photos or videos of themselves by pretending to be their friends or claiming to be talent scouts looking for child stars, the Cyberspace Administration of China said on Tuesday.

People who send pornographic pictures to juveniles or use dirty language while communicating with them are also targets, as are internet users who post or comment on obscene content on child-related accounts or webpages, the administration added.

In addition, it required cyberspace agencies across the country to focus more on cyberbullying, online fraud and online violence against children during this campaign, with stronger supervision on internet platforms.

Online accounts will be barred from posting, closed or blacklisted if they are found to be engaged in any of the aforementioned behavior, the administration said, urging local cyberspace departments to expose problematic accounts in a timely manner.
