The National People's Congress of China hopes to strengthen friendly exchanges with the National Parliament of Solomon Islands, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the NPC Zhao Leji said, calling on legislatures of both countries to play their special roles in promoting bilateral ties.
Zhao made the remarks during his meeting with visiting Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare of Solomon Islands in Beijing on Tuesday.
Bilateral ties have developed rapidly since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 2019, Zhao said, adding that China hopes to deepen strategic communications with Solomon Islands and tap into the potential of bilateral cooperation.
Zhao introduced to Sogavare the idea and practice of Chinese modernization, and said the new achievements of Chinese modernization will serve as new opportunities for the development of the world.
Sogavare said Solomon Islands firmly follows the one-China policy, and hopes to deepen cooperation with China in various fields.
