As of Tuesday, more than 100,000 inbound and outbound passengers have used the China-Laos Railway.
According to China Railway Kunming Group, the Mohan border inspection station has inspected 474 rail trains. It has also handled 100,186 entries and exits from 75 countries and regions. The railway began operation on April 13.
The 1,035-kilometer China-Laos Railway is an electric line that links Kunming with Vientiane. Since July 25, the travel time between the cities has shortened from 10 hours and 30 minutes to 9 hours and 26 minutes.
The railway has made it more convenient to travel to Yunnan, a popular tourist destination.
Li Bing, who works at the Mohan border inspection station, said most foreign travelers taking the train to Yunnan come to China to travel or study.
He said that travelers from different countries ride the train to Yunnan province to take advantage of the pleasant winter weather.
