In an unfortunate incident, a wild boar entered Qinglong village in Fenyan town, Jianli city, Hubei province, leading to one fatality and three injuries on Tuesday, Beijing News reported.
The village's Party chief told Beijing News that the injured individuals have been promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
The deceased victim was a 51-year-old resident from the village. He suffered severe bleeding and succumbed to his injuries after being bitten on the right leg while working in the shrimp fields.
Following the incident, local departments, including the police, responded to the scene. The Party chief confirmed that the wild boar was shot dead by police officers on the spot. The local police station confirmed that the wild boar had been appropriately handled, and the aftermath procedures are underway.
The National Forestry and Grassland Administration removed the wild boar from the List of Terrestrial Wildlife with Significant Ecological, Scientific and Social Value on June 30.
Wild boars were removed following economic losses caused by the animals in agricultural areas, along with increasing conflicts with residents.
