Two fishermen from the Chinese mainland, who survived a recent fishing boat incident near Kinmen, an island administered by Taiwan and located near the mainland, said they felt lingering fear and disappointment with the Taiwan authorities in an interview with Yuyuantantian, a new media account for China Media Group published on Wednesday.

A fishing boat from the mainland was forcefully driven into waters near Kinmen by Taiwan authorities on Feb 14, causing all four people on board to fall into the sea, resulting in two fatalities.

Representatives of the Red Cross Society of China branch in the port city of Quanzhou in Fujian province accompanied family members of the fishermen to Kinmen on Tuesday morning to deal with the aftermath of the incident.

The two surviving fishermen boarded a ferry at 4:30 pm on Tuesday to return to the mainland from Kinmen.

Recalling the incident, one fisherman said they set out the boat at around 12:00pm on Feb 14, and by 12:50, they saw Taiwan's coast guard boat heading towards them.

"There's no way our boat could have capsized on its own. Even if we made a sharp turn, it wouldn't capsize. It would take a collision to capsize, and we didn't expect the Taiwan vessel to come over and ram our boat, causing it to capsize. We dove into the water and only two out of four of us managed to get ashore," he said.
