Two fishermen adrift at sea from Kinmen, which is administered by China's Taiwan, were rescued and transferred to the island by maritime patrol authorities from Fujian province, local authorities said on Monday.
In the late hours of Sunday, Fujian maritime search and rescue center received a notification from Taiwan's search and rescue association that two individuals from Kinmen had failed to return after setting out to sea for fishing on that day.
Following the alert, multiple departments in Fujian initiated a search and rescue operation. Around 4:15 am on Monday, the two individuals were rescued by a mainland vessel in the waters off Quanzhou's Weitou Bay.
Upon preliminary examination, it was determined that their physical condition was good, and they would be transferred to the Kinmen authorities at sea on Monday morning, according to Fujian authorities.
