(ECNS) - Futuristic robots performing a broad range of tasks have been used in the media center of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Qingdao Summit in the coastal city of Qingdao, Shandong Province.
Reporters will be welcomed by an intelligent robot called Liuliu shuttling around on the first floor of the press center.
Zhang Xuehao, head of AI at the press center, said Liuliu’s human-computer interaction capabilities allow it to provide consultation, guidance, and navigation services so journalists could directly reach their destinations.
One of four types of robots used at the press center, the security robot adopts technologies such as face recognition, heat source scanning, and autonomous patrol. It is equipped with remote and night-vision cameras, autonomously patrols according to a set route, and can also complete relatively complex on-duty tasks through remote human-machine collaboration.
The security robot can also ensure 24-hour, 360-degree monitoring, with information transmitted to the monitoring center in real time, according to Zhang.
The 18th SCO summit will be held from June 9 to 10. All intelligent robots used in the press center are manufactured in the coastal city, a popular tourist destination in China.
Qingdao has made strides in intelligent manufacturing, with seven projects included in the national demonstration, and six of the top 10 robot companies in the world located here. The city is committed to developing a robot industry base at both a regional and national level.
