(ECNS) - Three Chinese citizens were killed in a trainee plane crash at a flight school in San Diego, California on May 10, said the Chinese Consulate General in Los Angeles.
Gao Fei, a spokesperson for the consulate general, said on Wednesday the victims were two students and an instructor, all Chinese.
The consulate general has started an emergency mechanism and urged the school to ensure the safety and rights of trainees, also assisting the victims' families in visiting the United States following the accident.
According to the U.S. media reports, the aviation school has been working with Chinese airlines to train pilots.
The aircraft plunged to the ground and ignited a brush fire in a remote area of Volcan Mountain near Julian on May 10, but the blaze was only put out three days later, when the remains of the victims were discovered.
