(ECNS) - The southeastern city of Jinjiang, famous as the home for a large number of overseas Chinese and a thriving private economy, has officially kicked off an overseas talent initiative to draw professionals back to serve its growth needs.
The city appointed 37 overseas Chinese who now live in 17 countries and regions to act as the city’s global ‘talent ambassadors', at a friendship and networking event from July 21 to 23. They will assist in building cooperation, matching projects, offering suggestions and promoting Jinjiang’s global profile.
The city also established an international talent exchange association to help Jinjiang go global and pursue quality and innovation in its development.
Overseas Chinese whose hometown is Jinjiang have formed 406 associations overseas and three related chambers of commerce.
Huang Wenfu, head of the United Front Department of Jinjiang and chairman of Jinjiang Overseas Friendship Association, said the city’s new talent strategy will promote further exchanges and boost cooperation between overseas talent, government departments and large enterprises while introducing technology for development.
Jinjiang has been ranked as the richest county-level city with the highest GDP in Fujian for many years in a row.
