(ECNS) - Steel plates blown up by gusty winds have damaged a high-speed train on the Hangzhou East-Beijing South railway line, causing delays of up to six hours, Beijing Railway Bureau said on Monday.
The G40 bullet train on the line suffered equipment failure when it was hit by steel plates between Langfang City in Hebei Province and Beijing at just after 11pm on Sunday, the bureau said.
Emergency rescuers rushed to repair the damage and the train had resumed operation by 4 a.m. on Monday, it was added.
Many passengers had to sleep on the train.
