(ECNS) -- China’s cargo delivery service huolala.cn said it has banned a truck driver permanently for verbally harassing a woman in Hangzhou City, Zhejiang Province.
The woman complained that she asked a driver to deliver goods on Aug. 5 but later had a conflict with him when he instead promoted his relative’s business service.
According to an investigation by huolala.cn, the driver tried to reach a private deal with the woman using Tencent’s social networking app WeChat rather than the online service, and also hurled insults at the woman in their phone calls, both violations of the platform’s rules.
Huolala.cn has kicked the driver off its service and tried to contact the customer to apologize, but in vain, according to the company.
The statement by huolala.cn came as China pledged to tighten oversight of its transportation sector, days after a Didi Chuxing passenger was raped and murdered by her driver.
