(ECNS) - Beijing aims to develop 60 smart manufacturing companies as industrial pace-setters by 2020 amid the city's campaign to enhance quality, according to Beijing Municipal Administration of Quality and Technology Supervision.
The capital's top regulator in the quality management and supervision system said 100 workshops empowered with digital technology, smart factories and intelligent manufacturing projects across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region will be developed in the next three years.
Beijing's vision is to become a center for high technology and advanced equipment manufacturing. The administration’s latest report specified 24 tasks toward the goal, with the focus on improving quality.
The city will enhance innovation in new materials and introduce a number of competitive products such as S&T breakthroughs in graphene, said the report.
Beijing will also pool resources to develop cultural brands and boost foreign trade in cultural products. The initiative will ensure all new buildings abide by mandatory energy-saving standards. As well, it plans to improve technical standards in transportation, city management, disaster prevention and mitigation and development of a smart society.
More efforts will be made to train quality talent, make students more aware of the importance of quality at an early age and establish quality research institutes.
