(ECNS) - The three major Chinese telecom operators have obtained license approval for 5G trial frequency, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
Priority is given to the use of 5G mid-band test frequencies with a continuous 100 MHz bandwidth.
The distribution of a 5G trial frequency will enable telecom operators and equipment manufacturers to set product development targets and accelerate the product development process, experts say.
China Mobile is promoting 5G pilot projects in 5 cities. It has participated in 5G applications in 12 cities designated by the National Development and Reform Commission.
China Telecom has expanded 5G innovation from the initial 5 pilot cities to 17 cities across the country, while China Unicom covers 16 cities.
China will carry out a 5G commercial trial in 2019 and officially put it into commercial use during 2020.
