(ECNS) - Chinese runner Bai Bin has reached the Arctic Ocean after running some 24,110 kilometers from the Antarctic in 443 days.
Bai, from China’s inland Guizhou Province, began the challenge from China's Antarctic Great Wall Station, the first Chinese research station in Antarctica, on March 2, 2018.
He has run across countries including Chile, Argentina, Peru and Mexico, overcoming the challenges of fatigue, scorching sun, blizzards and strong winds along the way.
Although exhausted, the 49-year-old said he’s still passionate about running and enjoys being on the road. “I wanted to run further than 10,000 kilometers. I never thought of giving up,” he said.
Bai began his running career 17 years ago on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. He completed a 150-day endurance run along the ancient Silk Road in 2011.
